DIVE IN the youth work

Progetto di scambio transnazionale tra Fattizze d'Arneo APS (Italia) e Laial e.V. (Germania)

Cosa rende il nostro lavoro giovanile davvero inclusivo? Come possiamo dare forza a giovani migranti e rifugiati attraverso l’apprendimento creativo non formale? E cosa possiamo imparare gli uni dagli altri?

Panoramica del progetto

Queste sono le domande che le due associazioni partner Fattizze (Sud Italia) e Laial (Berlino) esplorano tra settembre 2024 e febbraio 2026 sotto il motto “Diversity, Inclusion, Vision and Empowerment through International Networking – strengthening European youth work”. Grazie al finanziamento del programma UE Erasmus+, abbiamo potuto realizzare finora tre visite reciproche:

Novembre 2024 – Italia

Nel novembre 2024, abbiamo iniziato con una visita conoscitiva in Italia. Per la prima volta, il team di Laial ha visto il bellissimo luogo di Fattizze. Abbiamo trascorso del tempo insieme sognando e pianificando – senza dimenticare la raccolta delle olive con giovani volontari internazionali durante il nostro tempo libero.

Maggio 2025 – Berlino e Brandeburgo

Nel maggio 2025, quattro esperti di lavoro giovanile di Fattizze hanno svolto una visita di studio intensa a Berlino e nel Brandeburgo. A Berlino abbiamo visitato:

  • il giardino comunitario “Prachttomate” nel cuore di Berlin-Neukölln,
  • la start-up sociale di catering “SumSum”, fondata da giovani rifugiati del team di Laial, e
  • il “Theatre of the Oppressed” “Kuringa”, che lavora su azioni concrete contro discriminazione e ingiustizia.

Abbiamo anche fatto un’uscita nel Brandeburgo per incontrare i fondatori del “Carnival of Cultures” a Kagel,

  • la fattoria biologica solidale “LAWINE” a Neuendorf im Sande e
  • l’“Haus des Wandels”, un “post-local rural centre” per vita comune e cultura.

Settembre 2025 – Fattizze / Riforestival

Nel settembre 2025, quattro membri di Laial e amici di “Haus des Wandels” e “LAWINE” hanno visitato il “Riforestival” di Fattizze – un festival per il rinnovamento delle foreste e della comunità. Abbiamo compreso come è progettato il concetto di Riforestival:

  • come una sorta di serious game: un luogo dove si impara insieme giocando – per bambini, giovani e adulti allo stesso modo,
  • con political kitchen: rendere collettivo e riconosciuto il lavoro di cura invisibile, e
  • con assemblee plenarie di risoluzione dei conflitti e definizione delle regole: dove giovani e adulti possono partecipare e assumersi responsabilità per sé stessi individualmente e per lo spazio condiviso e la comunità.

Metodi ed attività sperimentate insieme

Accanto a questi metodi di apprendimento non formale, abbiamo sperimentato insieme alcune altre attività:

  • il percorso sensoriale, per superare differenze tra persone vedenti e non vedenti,
  • erboristeria & foraging di piante selvatiche commestibili, per condividere conoscenze tradizionali provenienti da diverse parti del mondo
  • creazione di seed balls e figure con fango, semi e materiali naturali, stimolando la creatività di giovani e anziani.

Fattizze d'Arneo APS, Italia

Un campeggio nel mezzo di 5 ettari di giovane uliveto. Una fattoria biologica per una vita autosostenibile. Uno spazio per lo spirito di comunità, la filosofia del sostenersi a vicenda e la solidarietà transculturale, creato 15 anni fa. Un punto di riferimento per le comunità migranti locali, con momenti conviviali con cibo e musica e occasioni di scambio e integrazione. Questa è Fattizze.

Soprattutto durante l’estate, la comunità di Fattizze realizza eventi culturali per le comunità locali e regionali, come proiezioni di documentari, spettacoli teatrali, concerti o presentazioni di libri. Aspetti di democrazia, diritti umani e cittadinanza attiva sono sempre una parte importante. Inoltre, Fattizze organizza festival ed eventi legati a riforestazione, foraging, raccolta di erbe, agricoltura rigenerativa e agroforestazione, ed escursioni nella natura. I temi di sostenibilità ed ecologia sono cruciali per tutte le attività.

Laial e.V., Germania

L’associazione Laial è stata fondata alla fine del 2018 come gruppo auto-organizzato di rifugiati con l’obiettivo di dare ai giovani l’opportunità di imparare, sperimentare l’autodeterminazione, crescere in ruoli di leadership e così affrontare la transizione verso la vita e il lavoro.

Da allora, l’associazione, i suoi membri e i suoi obiettivi hanno continuato a evolversi.

Un’iniziativa giovanile locale è cresciuta fino a diventare una comunità transnazionale che oggi unisce partecipazione sociale, solidarietà, responsabilità ecologica e cambiamento strutturale. I progetti artigianali sono diventati spazi educativi, i progetti giovanili sono cresciuti in reti, e le idee iniziali sono diventate luoghi di incontro, formati di scambio e partnership internazionali.

Transnational exchange project between Fattizze d'Arneo APS (Italy) and Laial e.V. (Germany)

What makes our youth work inclusive? How can we empower young migrants and refugees through non-formal creative learning? And what can we learn from each other?

Project overview

These are questions which the two partner associations Fattizze (South Italy) and Laial (Berlin) explore between September 2024 and February 2026 under the motto “Diversity, Inclusion, Vision and Empowerment through International Networking – strengthening European youth work”. Thanks to the funding by the EU programme Erasmus+, we could implement three mutual visits so far:

Mutual visits

November 2024 – Italy

In November 2024, we started with a get-to-know-each visit in Italy. For the first time, the team of Laial saw the beautiful place of Fattizze. We spent time together by dreaming and planning – not to forget to mention the olive harvest with young international volunteers during our free time.

May 2025 – Berlin & Brandenburg

In May 2025, four youth work experts from Fattizze absolved a full-packed study visit in Berlin and Brandenburg. In Berlin, we visited:

  • the community garden “Prachttomate” in the heart of Berlin-Neukölln,
  • the social catering start-up “SumSum”, founded by young refugees from the team of Laial, and
  • the Theatre of the Oppressed “Kuringa”, working on concrete actions against discrimination and injustice.

We also made a field trip to Brandenburg to meet the founders of the “Carnival of Cultures” in Kagel,

  • the solidary organic farm “LAWINE” in Neuendorf im Sande and
  • the “Haus des Wandels”, a “post-local rural centre” for communal living and culture.

September 2025 – Fattizze / Riforestival

In September 2025, four members of Laial as well as friends from “Haus des Wandels” and “LAWINE” visited Fattizze’s “Riforestival” – a festival for renewal of forests and community. We understood, how the concept of Riforestival is designed:

  • as a kind of serious game: as place of learning together by playing – for children, youth and adults equally,
  • with political kitchen: making invisible care work collective and appreciated, and
  • with conflict resolution and rules-setting plenary meetings: where young people and adults can all participate and take responsibility for themselves individually as well as for the shared space and community.

Methods and activities experienced together

Next to these non-formal learning methods, we experienced few other activities together:

  • the sensory pathway, overcoming differences between people able and unable to see,
  • herbalism & foraging wild edible plants, enabling to share traditional knowledge from different corners of the world
  • creating seed balls and figures from mud, seeds and natural materials, boosting creativity of young and old.

As next steps, we are going to share our knowledge with colleagues from our teams and public in dissemination workshops:

The project partners

Fattizze d'Arneo APS, Italy

A camping place in the middle of 5 hectare of young olive wood. An organic farm for self-sustainable living. A space for community spirit, the philosophy of supporting each other and transcultural solidarity, created 15 years ago. A point of reference for local migrant communities, with convivial moments with food and music and occasions for exchange and integration. This is Fattizze.

Especially during the summer time, the community of Fattizze implements cultural events for the local and regional communities, such as documentary film screenings, theatre performances, concerts or book presentations. Aspects of democracy, human rights and active citizenship are always an important part of it. Moreover, Fattizze organizes festivals and events related to reforestation, foraging, collecting herbs, regenerative agriculture and agroforestry and excursions to nature. The topics of sustainability and ecology are crucial to all activities.

Laial e.V., Germany

The Laial association was founded at the end of 2018 as a self-organised group of refugees with the aim of giving young people the opportunity to learn, experience self-determination, grow into leadership roles and thus master the transition into life and work.

Since then, the association, its members and its goals have continued to evolve.

A local youth initiative has grown into a transnational community that today combines social participation, solidarity, ecological responsibility and structural change. Craft projects have become educational spaces, youth projects have grown into networks, and initial ideas have now become meeting places, exchange formats and international partnerships.
